Inspired by a painting by the Russia-French artist Erté, designer Sarah Yan has created Guild Hall, a stunning architectural masterpiece that seamlessly blends classical aesthetics with modern magnificence. With every corner and object in the building responding to the aesthetic history of the space, Guild Hall is a testament to the timeless spirit of aesthetics.
The vision in space is rich in layers, with gold, black, and off-white hues used to showcase modern elegance. The design team has utilized a range of materials, including metallic art, mosaic, etching glass, wood, hand brush paint, latex paint, resin, and marble, to bring their vision to life.
Measuring 1500 square meters, Guild Hall is a testament to the designer's meticulous attention to detail and commitment to creating a space that is both visually stunning and functional. The lines undulate throughout the space, creating a sense of vitality and rhythm. The delicate and feminine touches add a sense of grace and elegance, symbolizing the spirit of the modern era.
Located in the Gao-Hsing District of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, Guild Hall is a true work of art that combines the beauty of Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. The designer has skillfully incorporated elements of both styles, resulting in a space that is both rigid and reflective, yet soft and dexterous.
One of the design challenges faced by the team was balancing the location of the staircase visually and spatially. The patterns on the floor tiles, decorated with golden illustrations and black marquina, are combined with an iron staircase, creating a visually stunning and harmonious composition. The designer also played with ratios, scales, and materials to create a strong aesthetic background that is both geometric and curvaceous.
Guild Hall has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This award recognizes the outstanding expertise and innovation demonstrated by the design team. Guild Hall is a true testament to the power of design to evoke positive emotions and a sense of wonder.
